MISSION STATEMENT
The Southern California Viola Society exists to support and
further the interests of violists — professionals, educators,
amateurs, and students — in the greater Southern California
area.
The mission of SCVS is achieved by
-
hosting performance, chamber music and educational
opportunities for members;
-
supporting and sponsoring viola-centric events
in Southern California to unite the interests and expertise
of performers, educators, amateur violists, composers and viola
enthusiasts;
-
providing resources, encouragement and tools
to assist educators and students;
-
advocating instrument makers and technicians;
-
developing progams to support young violists;
-
publishing a newsletter;
-
reaching out to instrumental colleagues and
related professional organizations;
-
maintaining a website, member forum and calendar
of events;
-
championing composers writing new works for
violists; and
-
honoring and celebrating the viola.
